We are delighted to announce that Naval Power Egypt will be organised in partnership, and with the full backing, of the Egyptian Navy. With a focus on future capability development and capacity building, the event will provide an unrivalled platform for high level strategic dialogue, examining issues most pertinent to naval forces in the MENA region.
The Red Sea and Gulf remains crucially important to global commerce, with the Suez Canal and Bab Al-Mandab Strait representing key chokepoints. In these areas, freedom of navigation continues to be threatened by piracy, hostile state, and non-state terrorist activity, with serious implications for regional security and the global economy. Simultaneously, in the Eastern Mediterranean several challenges persist, ranging from illicit maritime activity, illegal migration, and increased tension amongst regional players.
Egypt and associated partner nations have a key responsibility to promote and enforce regional maritime security. This combined with its geographically strategic position makes Egypt a logical location for key-stakeholders to meet, to discuss common challenges and opportunities in the maritime space.
